Ang Kulit Mo Kasi

"Talent is nothing without PASSION."

A line from June Dolloway, character played by Shirley McLaine in the hit series GLEE.

I closed my very first corporate account when I was 3 years into the business. It took me a year of repeated brainstorming and constant follow-ups before the client finally said yes to my recommendation and signed the papers. And each year that followed, I get a repeat business from his company based on the program I introduced.

This is how I operate in my business. Regardless of how I overcome a challenge, whether it's moving on after a rejection or celebrating a milestone, I analyze where I went wrong or what I did right. And I often ask my clients to give me their comments on my presentation/s and performance. This is to help me grow in my business.

So after the CEO signed the papers and told me to get the check from his finance officer, I asked what made him say yes after throwing so many rejections at me in the year that passed. His reply, in a joking sarcastic manner, was in Tagalog. ANG KULIT MO KASI E (You are just too persistent). We had a laugh, he and I. But immediately after, he replaced the candid mood with a serious face and tone of voice. YOU SEE, JANET. AFTER ALMOST A YEAR OF GETTING TO KNOW YOU, I SAW YOUR PASSION IN YOUR BUSINESS AND THE DEDICATION YOU HAVE TO GIVE THE BEST TO YOUR CLIENT.
