The Philippines has an abandoned children problem. About 1.8 million children in the country, more than 1% of its entire population, are “abandoned or neglected,” according to the United Nations’ Children’s Rights & Emergency Relief Organization. Some are victims of extreme poverty; others of natural disasters and armed conflicts in the country’s riven south.

CHRISTIAN GROWTH MINISTRIES – HOME OF JOY is a licensed and accredited child caring and child placing welfare agency with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Through its program and services, it enhances holistic development of children who are abandoned, neglected, orphaned, surrendered, and less-privilege children and families without prejudice of ethnicity, or religion.

It was an honor to meet the staff and parent volunteers who selflessly and passionately contribute their time and talent for this cause. Thank you MDRT Foundation for helping us provide a temporary home for many Filipino children while they await their reunion with loved ones or welcoming arms from a new family.
